Instilling financial literacy among Luzon and Iloilo-based Sea Mariners

MAY 5, 2023

Last April 28, the Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) Sea Mariners team conducted a learning session to introduce the value of saving to participating students of the program. The session was presented by Mr. Hector Brizuela of the PTC TAG-PEP group.

52 attendees from four ships in Luzon and Iloilo took part in the session. These included Sea Mariners from the Sto. Rosario National High School (SRNH) ship, Tanza National High School (TNHS) ship, PHINMA University of Iloilo (UI) ship, and JB Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) ship.

The session is the first part of the Financial Literacy modules that will be taught to the Sea Mariners. The first module was designed to provide the students with basic knowledge of financial literacy and saving. The participants were also encouraged to open their own savings accounts to be able to appreciate the next part of the lessons.

The PTC Sea Mariners team extends its appreciation to the program's adult advisers who continue to support the activities that are organized for sea mariners ships.
